SEASONS OF GREATNESS---JAN-MARCH 2012
Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 – 10/11 June 323 BC), commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle, and is considered one of history's most successful commanders.
He was so great that ‘great’ was added to his name. However, as great as this man was, he was at best still a man. He was nowhere close to Jesus. He conquered the world but did not save a single soul. He died, and his bones can still be found. Jesus is still Alive.
He is El Shaddai, The Almighty. He is greater than the greatest. It is that greatness that He wants to you to have in this season (January-March 2012). He said in John 14:12...Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my father. Jesus wants us to believe in Him. That is the first step to greatness. Believe in the Lordship and the greatness of Jesus Christ, and you will do greater works. Don’t forget that you can do much more, I mean exceedingly and abundantly. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us of the power that we have in us.
So, after you have believed in Christ, believe also in your ability to be great. Yes, you can be great! John 11 v 41-43, in the raising of Lazarus. Jesus made a remarkable declaration...He said Father I thank you that you have heard me, and you always hear me...based on this belief in Himself, and in God, He said... Lazarus, come forth! And the man that had been dead for three days woke up! This can only be done by a great person. You can wake the dead: both in realty and figuratively.
Lastly, for this article, in John 5:20, Jesus again said, the Father loves the Son and shows Him all things that He himself does, and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. So there is a need for you to also love Jesus, so that He can love you. If you abide in Him, He will abide in you too. He will love you and embarrass you with knowledge of the things that will make people marvel at your works. However, you cannot love Jesus unless you love yourself as your neighbour. Matt 5:43-48.
So the sequence is this: Believe Him, Believe yourself, and love Him, love yourself.
